James Clinton Pasley, son of James and Polly Taylor Pasley, was born in Morgan county, Ill., April 24, 1859, died at the home of his sister, Mrs. Margaret Crowell, in Chandlerville June 27th, at the age of 69 years and 3 days.

On August 26, 1884, he was united in marriage to Mary Blair of Chandlerville, who preceded him in death June 12, 1828. He leaves to mourn his passing two sisters, and one brother, namely, Eliza Mason of Texas, George Pasley of Petersburg and Mrs. Margaret Crowell of this city, besides numerous other relatives and friends.

Mr. And Mrs. Pasley had spent several years of their lives at Girard, Ill., where he was employed by the C. & A. railroad as crossing flagman. He had been practically an invalid for some time, but kept faithfully to his position until a few months ago. At the time of Mrs. Pasley’s death, he was bedfast, and never fully regained consciousness until death called him.

On Feb. 8, 1903, during a revival meeting held at the Christian church in Girard, conducted by Rev. L. O. Lehman, he was converted and baptized and placed his membership with that church.

Funeral services were held at the Christian church here last Friday afternoon at two o’clock, conducted by Rev. Thos. G. Bachelor. Interment was made in the Chandlerville cemetery.

Patricia S. Pearce Dies in Evanston

Word was received here this week of the death of Mrs. Patricia Jean Pearce, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Stieler, at her home in Evanston, January 30. Funeral Services were held in Evanston yesterday. Pearce is survived by a daughter, Gale Marie, and her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Stieler are former residents of this city and are graduates of the local high school.

Charles Dale Perry, 60, of Beardstown died Monday at his residence.

Gus Perry, 77, of Beardstown died at 3:20pm at Culbertson Memorial Hospital, Rushville, IL.

Service will be at 11am Thrusdayat Sager Funeral Home, Beardstown. Burial will be in Beardstown City Cemetery

Lorene F. Perry, 87, of Beardstown died Sunday at the Hertiage Manor Nursing Home in Beardstown.

Survivors: two sons, Lyndel K. Perry and Charles Dale Perry, both of Beardstown, two daughters, Mrs Lester(Carole) Rhoades and Joy Mangrum, both of Beardstown. nine grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, two gt, gt grandchildrenand a brother, Carroll Ashford of Godfrey.

Mrs. Perry was born August 12, 1907 in Wrights, IL.

Mrs Ruth L. Perry, 56, of 912 E. 14th street, Beardstown, died at 6.16 today at  Schmidt Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient for 13 days.

The body is at the Cline Funeral Home where friends may call from 7.30 to 9 pm, Wednesday.

Funeral services will be at 2 pm , Thrusday at Clines Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Dittner, pastor of Beardstown Church of the Nazarene officiating. Interment will be in the city cemetery. Mrs. Perry was born in Jerseyville April 16, 1909 a daughter of Rudolph and Daisy Tucker Green. She married John W. Perry, Sept 19, 1926 in Carrollton, IL.

She was preceded in death by her father and six children who died in infancy.

She is survived by her husband, John, eight children , Mrs Charles Yanke of Beardstown, Mrs Robert Lamaster of Calif., Mrs. Dona Nolting of Petersburg, Wesley Perry of Pekin, Galen Perry of Davenport, Ia. Jackie, Janet and Gary at home.12 grandchildren, one gt. grandchild. Her mother, Mrs Daisy Green of Jerseyville and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was a member of the Nazarene Church of Bearstown.

GEORGE J. PETEFISH 1920-2006 - Virginia

   George J. Petefish, 85, of Virginia, died Sunday morning, May 7, 2006 at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.
   He was born July 8, 1920 in rural Virginia, the son of Glen and Lenora Carls Petefish. He married Edith M. McMahan in 1978 in Virginia, and she survives in Jacksonville.
   He is survived by one daughter from a previous marriage, Debra K. "Debbie" (husband, Ramon) Cabrera of Brenham, Texas; two step daughters, Belinda (husband, Wayne) Hutchins of Chatham and Diane (husband, Bob) Cooley of Jacksonville; two stepsons, William (wife, Olga) McMahan of Mesa, Ariz., and Donald (wife, Courtney) McMahan of Jacksonville; 11 stepgrandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; and one niece. He was preceded in death by one brother, Glen C. (surviving wife, Marilyn Petefish of Virginia).
   Mr. Petefish was a 1938 graduate of Virginia High School and attended Illinois College in Jacksonville. He served from 1943-1945 as a sergeant with the US Army during World War II. He farmed in Cass County for a few years prior to working as an insurance agent for Country Companies in the Pleasant Hill area. He later returned to Virginia where he was a partner with Ted Harrison Oil Company, a Phillips 66 Distributor and retail tire marketer. He was later elected Cass County Clerk, serving 12 years prior to his retirement. Following retirement, he served on the Cass County Board, as a member of the Cass County E911 Committee, and was active in other civic endeavors.
   Mrs. Petefish was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Virginia which he had served as an Elder. A dedicated mason, he was a 61 year member of Virginia Lodge #544 A.F. & A.M., Adah Robinson Chapter 276 O. E. S., the Valley of Springfield Consistory, and Ansar Shrine. An active member of the Cass County Democratic Party, he also was a member of Cass-Morgan Farm Bureau, American Legion Post 258, and a past president of the former Virginia Kiwanis Club.
   Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church in Virginia, with burial at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia. Friends may call after 3:00 p.m. today at Massie-Buchanan Funeral Home in Virginia, where the family will meet friends from 5-7 p.m.  Masonic services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church of Virginia.

Gretchen J. Pfeiffer - 1914-2003 - Ashland

    Gretchen J. Pfeiffer, 88, of Ashland, and formerly of Ashton, died Wednesday evening, April 30, 2003 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
    She was born Oct. 24, 1914 in Amboy, the daughter of William and Inez Walters Finch. She married Glenn John Pfeiffer Feb. 28, 1940, and he preceded her in death Oct. 29, 1979.
    She is survived by two daughters, Jacqueline J. Spradlin of Ashland and Sandra R. (husband, Jim) Ranney of East Peoria; five grandchildren, Tara R. Eiken of Port Charlotte, Fla., Tammy R. Kesterson of Ashland, Tracy R. Bennett of Edina, Minn., James A. Ranney of Annapolis, Md., and Christine L. Ranney of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; 11 great grandchildren; and three nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother, William Finch, and one sister, Ruth Burrell.    Mrs. Pfeiffer was a graduate of Amboy High School and attended Illinois State University. She was formerly employed at Ashton Bank in Ashton and worked several years as an administrative assistant at the Del Monte plant in Rochelle. She relocated to Mesa, Ariz., for 20 years after retirement. She was a member of the Ashton, United Methodist Church and the Order of Eastern Star.
    Cremation rites have been accorded. Private family committal services will be held at a later date. Memorial gifts are suggested to the Ashland Public Library for the Books On Tape Program. Massie-Buchanan Funeral Home in Ashland is in charge of the arrangements.

Bernice Purkey, 84, of Virginia, died Sunday September 1, 2002, at Heritage Manor South in Beardstown.
  She was born May 11, 1918, in Cass County, the daughter of Tom and Esther Marguerite Williams Cox. She married Howard L. Purkey in 1944
in Cass County; he died in 1981. A daughter, Janet Sue Richmeier, also preceded her in death.
  Mrs. Purkey operated a day-care center in Garden Grove, Calif., for 21 1/2 years. She was a cook and a waitress at R.G. Letourneau's in Peoria. She was active in church missionary work and Bible teaching at Walker Nursing Home in Virginia. She was a member of Virginia Lioness Club for many years and Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Virginia. She was a former member of Church of the Nazarene in Danville, Ark.
  Survivors; two sons, Thomas H. (wife, Claudia) Purkey of Gaylord, Mich., and Dale C., (wife, Mary) Purkey of Sherman, Texas; six grandchildren; a great-grandson; three brothers, Charles of Eugene, Ore., and Kenneth and Thomas Russell Cox, both of Virginia; two sisters, Margaret Chilton of Virginia and Hazel Hish of Chandlerville; and several nieces and nephews.
  Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Massie-Buchanan Funeral Home, Virginia. Burial: Thursday, Earl Ladd Cemetery, Danville.
